Susan Maguire announces run for Cherry Hills Village mayor

Susan Maguire announced she is running for mayor of Cherry Hills Village. “I am running for Mayor of Cherry Hills Village because I want to ensure that it remains a safe, serene, low-density residential community, as envisioned by the City’s Master Plan. This vision is under assault because of the intrusion of the state legislature on our right to govern ourselves as a home rule municipality.”
She wrote that the state is “trying to force us to allow over 3,000 new housing units, with up to 40 units per acre in certain parts of the City.”
She said she is proud of what “we have accomplished over the last 4 years, including: full opening of Quincy Farm, increased public programming for families at Quincy Farm and at City Hall, and the progress toward accomplishing the goals of the Master Plan.” She said crime has decreased significantly over the last 3½ years and “we are one of the safest cities in Colorado.”
She wrote that the city came in under budget every year and is directing staff to prepare a 2027 budget that includes a tax holiday for the Cherry Hills Village portion of every resident’s property taxes, “a benefit of $3,800 on average to every homeowner.”
Priorities listed for the next two years: keep zoning local; public safety; protecting parks, trails, and open space; infrastructure improvements regarding cell coverage, traffic flow, and safe e-bike regulations; and financial stability. More information: SusanMaguireforMayor.com.
