GV Council passes first official resolution regarding trash policy

During the 30 years since Greenwood Village first started providing free trash collection service for its residents, its policy as to which homeowners are included and which are not has evolved. In addition to all single-family homes and duplexes, the city currently provides the service to some condominium complexes and, since 2021, all for-sale townhomes, as well as swimming pools in four GV neighborhoods. Landmark condominiums were among the complexes not included.
The May 4 proposal to include Landmark came from Council Member Bob Doyle, who represents the district in which Landmark is located, and drew support from Jay Schneiderman, Landmark’s other representative, as well as District Three Council Member Donna Johnston. The first official resolution regarding trash policy passed with yes votes from Jay Schneiderman, Paul Wiesner, Katrin Mezger, Tom Stahl, Libby Barnacle and Ann Nelson. Johnston said, “There’s no rationale (for excluding Landmark). It keeps coming back to that.”
Asked why he supported the resolution excluding Landmark after informally voting to include Landmark a few weeks earlier, Schneiderman told the paper he didn’t think the resolution “was meant to exclude the Landmark or any other condominium association.” Rather, he “read it as an affirmation of a decision that had already been made.” A Landmark speaker asked, “Why are we being excluded? There’s no rationale for it. There’s no factual basis in the study.”
