Centennial emergency ordinance limits e-bikes and e-motorcycles
The Aug. 18 ordinance bars Class 3 e-bikes and electric motorcycles from Centennial parks, open areas, and trails, with street-use rules still applying.

Centennial City Council passed emergency Ordinance 2026-O-13 on Aug. 18, putting new limits on Class 3 e-bikes and electric motorcycles in public spaces.
The ordinance, effective immediately, bans Class 3 e-bikes and electric motorcycles from parks, open areas, and trails in Centennial. Class 3 e-bikes are defined as electric bikes with motors up to 750 watts that can assist riders up to 28 mph. Riders must be at least 16, and riders under 18 must wear a helmet.
Electric motorcycles must be licensed, insured, and registered, and riders must follow traffic laws when operating on streets. Assistant City Manager Eric Eddy presented the ordinance, which the city developed with the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, Arapahoe County open space staff, and South Suburban Parks and Recreation.
Councilmember Ashish Vaiyda asked how the rule applies to South Suburban land outside Centennial. Eddy said additional actions would be needed and that similar rules were expected from the districts.
